Tiera Bratton, Founder

by OFDC Board member, Mark Bergel

If you want to know what the future of service and leadership looks like, it is Tiera Bratton. Tiera has the right drive, the right ideas, and the right perspective to lead her region - and beyond. I have worked with thousands of staff members, students, interns, and directors of all levels, and it is with Tiera that I feel the most hope. The more you connect with her and OFDC, the more you are likely to feel the same way.

Tiera has always had a passion for service. Growing up in poverty herself, Tiera nevertheless made a point of helping other kids in her Prince George’s County, Maryland community. And from the moment she finished school, she increased these efforts, starting a mentoring group in the neighborhood where she grew up.

In October 2021, Tiera took it a step further and founded Opportunities for Deserving Children (OFDC). OFDC provides health, wellness, and life skills programming to children for whom these services are otherwise unavailable. OFDC also works with children of incarcerated parents and is developing cutting edge pre-workforce development programs.

Tiera has recently become an advisor to The National Plan to End Poverty. To say that Tiera is an important leader is to understate how much she will bring to this world. And to support OFDC is to enable necessary and beautiful work to be brought forth where it is needed most.
